IMS 3101: Introduction to International Migration

This course provides participants with sound knowledge on concepts, definitions, the historical evolution of international migration, and sources of data related to international migration. In addition, it discusses international migration drivers and different typologies by referring to case studies. Furthermore, the course enhances participants’ knowledge and exposure to studying international migration as an important field of study and its practical applications to understanding migration related challenges. Moreover, global trends and prospects for international migration are discussed, with a special focus on the Sri Lankan context.
